Youth Clubs

Metropolitan Oval in Maspeth is the oldest continuously-used soccer ground in the country and one of NYC's true development institutions. As a founding member of MLS NEXT, its Youth Center of Excellence runs programs from U6 through U19 — specialized training, team play, camps, and clinics with a technical-first philosophy.

The Oval is serious about access, offering need-based financial support so talent, not money, decides who develops. Countless pros have come through this ground over a century of football.

DUSC is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that has educated, trained, and inspired downtown Manhattan players since 1982 — roughly 5,000 participants a year from rec soccer starting at age 5 all the way to MLS NEXT boys' and top-level girls' teams.

The club offers financial assistance for players who show talent, commitment, and need, and its community programming keeps the pathway open across the whole neighborhood. Home base is Pier 40.

Blau Weiss Gottschee is one of the most decorated youth clubs in the country — a Queens institution and official New York Red Bulls academy affiliate whose alumni include Tim Weah, Omir Fernandez, Jack McGlynn, and Dylan Nealis.

The club runs a full ladder: intramural programs for beginners, pre-academy, and academy teams built on technical foundation, tactical understanding, and love for the game.

Founded in 1949 by Italian immigrants, the Brooklyn Italians won the U.S. Open Cup twice (1979, 1991) — still the last New York team to lift it — and today run one of Brooklyn's premier youth academies.

An official New York Red Bulls academy partner since 2024, the club combines seven decades of history with a modern development pathway.

Youth Clubs

FA Euro New York is Brooklyn's exclusive MLS NEXT club and also appears in the USL League Two ecosystem, with the official USL page listing the club in Brooklyn and Poly Prep as its home field.

For families in Brooklyn, it is one of the major serious development names: MLS NEXT age groups, a senior/pre-pro layer, and a real pathway into clubs like NYCFC.

FC Westchester
Youth Clubs

FC Westchester is one of the key development clubs just north of the city, built around the belief that players need stronger training infrastructure and coaching access to maximize potential.

It is not inside the five boroughs, but it belongs in the NYC pathway map because city players regularly look north for elite environments, matches, and academy-level competition.

Long Island SC

Long Island SC
Youth Clubs

Long Island Soccer Club is a major metro-area youth pathway, with active tryouts, EDP recognition, girls and boys programming, and a visible development structure.

The NYC guide should include high-value options around the city as well as inside it, because ambitious families often compare clubs across Queens, Long Island, Brooklyn, Westchester, and New Jersey.

Youth Clubs

Eastern FC is a longstanding New York-area youth club, founded in 1977, that frames its work around development for premier, college, and professional levels.

Its model emphasizes the four pillars of player development — technical, tactical, physical, and psychological — and is useful for families comparing serious club environments beyond the city line.

The CJSL is where NYC's club youth teams compete week to week — the junior wing of the same historic pyramid as the Cosmopolitan Soccer League, with member clubs including Brooklyn City FC, Cedar Stars, and dozens more.

If your kid's club plays 'in the league,' odds are this is the league.

Youth Leagues & Associations

ENYYSA is the official youth soccer association for Eastern New York, connected to U.S. Soccer and US Youth Soccer. Its footprint includes leagues across Manhattan, Queens, Brooklyn, Staten Island, the Bronx, Long Island, Westchester, and upstate east of Route 81.

Use it as the big-picture hub: member leagues, Olympic Development Program information, coaching education, cups, forms, and the administrative side of youth soccer in the region.

New York Club Soccer is now part of EDP Soccer and helps administer the EDP North Atlantic pathway for youth teams in the tri-state area. It is one of the main competitive league doors for NYC clubs that need strong weekly games.

Use this when mapping serious youth soccer beyond one club: league play, EDP events, North Atlantic brackets, and club placement all connect here.

Youth Leagues & Associations

Girls City is CJSL's girls-only competition, offered with EDP for U9-U13 age groups. The league is built for NYC-based girls teams that need organized, level-appropriate competition without sending families all over the region every weekend.

This belongs high in the guide because girls need their own map of the city too: clubs, brackets, schedules, and a pathway that treats the girls game as central, not extra.

Pro Club Pathways

Red Bulls Youth Programs describe a complete development pathway for players of all ages and abilities, built around technical growth, confidence, and love for the game.

It is a New York-area pathway rather than an NYC-only club. It belongs here because many city players interact with Red Bulls programming, regional development environments, or academy scouting at some stage.

The NYC Cup is a summer showcase tournament in the heart of the city, played at Randall's Island Park. Its official information lists boys and girls showcase dates, U13-U19 age groups, three guaranteed games, and a college-coach environment.

For ambitious youth teams, it is one of the clearest tournament/showcase entries actually inside New York City. Check the current event page before planning because dates, fees, and team caps can change year to year.

The New York Champions Cup brings top CJSL and EDP teams together in U10 through U17 age groups. It is one of the cleanest snapshots of the city's competitive youth level because teams qualify through league play first.
