A look ahead at the youth day JOGA NYC is preparing at Met Oval, with players from every club welcome to apply.
The work taking shape
JOGA NYC is preparing The Showcase for October 12 at Met Oval. The invitation reaches beyond one club: players born from 2009 through 2016 can apply, including players from other clubs and independent backgrounds. For invited players, the event is free.
That citywide approach matters. A player’s club tells part of their story, but a shared field gives different soccer lives a chance to meet. JOGA’s aim is to create an environment where young players can compete, express themselves and make new connections.
The proposed program brings together 5v5 games, 1v1 duels and skills challenges. Those formats ask different questions of a player: how they work with teammates, how they solve a direct contest and how they handle the technical details. Boot trials, evaluation and player portraits are also planned; availability, permissions and final arrangements still need confirmation.
As of October 7, this is a look ahead. The event has not happened yet. Applying puts a player forward for consideration and does not confirm a place. Selected players should use their invitation for the final session and arrival information.
The next chapter will belong to the people who take the field. For now, the work is to make the invitation clear, keep expectations honest and prepare a day that serves the city’s young players.
Play. Learn. Watch. Participate.
