South Bronx United uses soccer as a vehicle for social change, pairing the game with academic support, college access, mentoring, and immigration legal services. Its Global Youth League gives ~150 high schoolers Saturday competition alongside social-work support and immigration screenings.

The rec program is open to all kids 4–15 regardless of experience, with fall, spring, and summer seasons at Macombs Dam, Mullaly, and Patterson Parks. One of the most complete sports-based youth development organizations in the country.

City in the Community is NYCFC's foundation, delivering free soccer and education programming citywide. Through the New York City Soccer Initiative it helped build 50 mini-pitches across the five boroughs, and its Community Cup develops local youth as coaches, referees, and organizers.

Free coaching roles and volunteer pathways make CITC a way to give back as well as play.

Uptown Soccer serves over 900 kids a year in Washington Heights, Inwood, and the Bronx with 400+ free drop-in training sessions annually — 'futbol para todos' in practice, not just on the crest.

Programs run from Chiquiticos (ages 4–6) through the Heights Soccer League and a dedicated girls program; 81% of players come from low-income families and every program stays free or near-free through community support.

The NYC Consulate Cup brings New York's diplomatic and international-office community together around soccer, with proceeds supporting City in the Community and its mission to make the game more accessible in underserved communities.

It matters because it shows another side of NYC football: not just clubs and leagues, but international communities using the game to build relationships and fund access.

La Canchita is a City in the Community event built around a youth soccer tournament on a NYCSI mini-pitch, plus community activities around the game.

The event engages roughly 100 kids ages 12-17 in Mott Haven and is a good example of the JOGA idea in action: the city, the game, and access all meeting in one place.

A partnership of the U.S. Soccer Foundation, the Mayor's Fund, NYCFC, adidas, and Etihad that built and programs 50 mini-pitches in underserved neighborhoods across all five boroughs.

Beyond its travel and academy sides, Downtown United's nonprofit mission funds financial assistance for talented players in need and community programming across downtown Manhattan.
